FAQ
Answers to what customers and search engines ask most about our 3D printing, 3D scanning, and reverse-engineering services. Have a question that isn't here? Call or text 240-513-8989 or email info@dcadditivepros.com.
It depends on size, material, and quantity. Most small printed parts start around $15–$30, while larger parts or high-temperature polymers like PEEK and ULTEM cost more. Use the instant quote calculator on our homepage for a ballpark in seconds, or send your file for a firm quote. There is no minimum order.
Yes. If you only have the physical part — even broken, worn, or incomplete — we 3D scan it to up to 0.02 mm accuracy, reverse-engineer a clean CAD model, and print it. You don't need any drawings or files to start; ship us the part or send photos to info@dcadditivepros.com.
The full engineering-polymer range across multiple industrial printers: PEEK, ULTEM 9085/1010, PPSU, and Nylon CF on the high end, plus everyday ABS, PETG, PLA, TPU 95A, carbon-fiber reinforced, ASA, and PC. If you need a specific polymer we don't stock, we'll source it.
Yes. We run high-temp polymers on industrial printers up to 500°C — PEEK (260°C continuous service), ULTEM 9085 (FAA flame-smoke-toxicity rated), ULTEM 1010, and PPSU — for aerospace, defense, automotive, and industrial parts. See our PEEK & ULTEM service page.
STL, STEP, OBJ, IGES, and 3MF. STL or 3MF is ideal for direct printing; STEP is better if you want us to modify geometry or hold tight tolerances. Large files are easiest to share via Google Drive, Dropbox, or WeTransfer link, or emailed to info@dcadditivepros.com.
No minimum order. A single prototype is perfectly fine, and quantity discounts apply automatically at 5, 10, and 25+ units — so you can prototype once and scale to a production batch with the same vendor.
Most standard print jobs ship in 3–7 business days depending on material and complexity. Simple jobs can be 2–3 days; scan-to-part jobs with complex geometry can run 5–10 days. Rush orders are available for +25%.
We capture up to 0.02 mm (~0.0008 in) accuracy when scanning. Printed tolerances depend on material and geometry but reliably suit automotive trim, functional fixtures, and replacement parts. Need a specific tolerance held? Note it in your request and we'll confirm feasibility before printing.
Yes — it's one of our most common jobs. We 3D scan your original (even if cracked or partially missing), rebuild a clean parametric CAD model, and print a replacement in the right material. It's a proven way to recreate legacy automotive, motorcycle, marine, agricultural, and industrial parts that are no longer manufactured. See our 3D scanning & reverse engineering page.
Yes. We produce aerospace and defense parts in FST-rated ULTEM and other high-performance polymers, and anatomical/surgical-planning models for clinicians and researchers (planning and education use, not implants). We support government and defense procurement and can discuss compliance needs during quoting. Note: we do not produce firearm components or FDA-cleared implantable devices.
Yes. We offer a free NDA on request at no added cost. Your designs and intellectual property remain 100% yours — we only use your files to fulfill your order and never share or reuse them.
We're based in Rockville, Maryland, and ship finished parts nationwide across the US (international on request). Most projects run by email and phone, so you can work with us from anywhere.
Use the instant quote calculator on our homepage for a ballpark, then email your file to info@dcadditivepros.com or send a cloud link. No file? Ship the part to our Rockville, MD facility, or call 240-513-8989 and we'll scope it in a 10-minute conversation first.
You bring your design and file. We manufacture the finished product and ship it for you. You stay the creator; we are your manufacturing and fulfillment partner.
Yes. A real person reviews every file for manufacturability before you are charged. This review checks production feasibility; it is not an engineering or fitness-for-purpose review.
No. We print the file you provide, exactly as you approve it, and we ship it. We do not edit, customize, correct, or redesign files. If our review finds an issue, you make the correction and resubmit.
Yes. A physical sample is available as a standard paid order at normal pricing. We do not provide free samples.
If we spot a problem during review, we contact you to correct it before anything ships. If a defect is caused by an error in the file you supplied or a specification you approved, the correction and any reprint are billed to you. We manufacture to the file you approve.
If the defect is from our manufacturing error, we remake the affected unit or refund its manufacturing cost. If it traces to your file or an approved specification, the correction is billed to you.
Yes. We may refuse any file at our sole discretion. We will not produce firearms or firearm parts or components, other weapons, items that are unlawful to make, sell, or ship, counterfeit goods, items that infringe someone's rights, or anything we consider unsafe. We are not required to give a reason.
You are. You confirm you own or are licensed for the rights to your design, and you agree to hold us harmless from third-party infringement claims. We will not knowingly reproduce protected characters or logos.
Products are made to your specification. Our total liability for an order is limited to the amount you paid us to manufacture the affected item. We are not responsible for lost profits or other indirect damages, or for whether your design is fit or compliant for its end use.
Once we hand your package to the carrier, risk of loss passes to you, or to your customer on blind orders. We are not responsible for carrier delays, items not received, lost or stolen packages, or damage that happens in transit. We package every order carefully and provide tracking where available. Shipping insurance is available on request, and we will provide the documentation needed to file a carrier claim.
No. You can order a single unit, which we build and ship blind to your customer under your brand, or order a batch that we ship to you to hold as inventory.
Yes. On-demand orders ship with no DC Additive Pros branding on the package.
No. We never sell your product and we do not run a marketplace. You sell on your own store; we manufacture and ship on your behalf.
Etsy requires you to be the creator and to disclose a manufacturing partner. You bring the original design; we manufacture it. You list us as your manufacturing partner and remain the creator. You are responsible for making the disclosures your platform requires, and we will give you the information you need to do it.
Per unit plus a per-order handling fee, with lower per-unit pricing on batch orders. Shipping is quoted once at onboarding by weight and region, then locked into your pricing profile and billed at actual carrier cost. Continental US only. Alaska and Hawaii carry a surcharge.
Payment is due before production begins.
You can change or cancel before production begins. Once production starts, the order cannot be cancelled, and changes require a new quote.
Standard turnaround is 2 to 4 business days after you approve your file and quote, subject to the current production queue. Some orders take longer, including complex or multi-part designs, certain materials and finishes, larger items, and high quantities. We give you an estimate at quote. Turnaround times are estimates, not guarantees.
No. We ship within the United States only.
