Frequently asked questions
Which vises do these fit?
They are compatible with Kurt style vises: 4 in jaws with bolt holes on 2.500 in centers, 6 in jaws on 3.875 in centers and 8 in jaws on 4.750 in centers. Many other mill vises use the same pattern. Please measure your jaw width and hole spacing before ordering. Some 8 in vises use a different pattern, so choose custom if yours does not match.
How do they attach?
Each jaw has built in N52 magnets on the back, so it sits on your existing steel hard jaws. Each jaw also has counterbored bolt holes if you prefer to bolt it on in place of your hard jaws. Use screws long enough for full thread engagement and do not overtighten. TPU 95A jaws are best used with the magnets.
Which material should I choose?
PLA is the budget option for light-duty work; it is rigid but should be kept away from heat and coolant. PETG is our standard, a tough all rounder that tolerates coolant. PCTG is our heavy duty and most impact resistant option for daily production use. TPU 95A is a soft grip that helps protect finished or delicate parts.
How does the custom pocket work?
Order with the custom pocket option, then send your STEP or STL file, or a drawing with dimensions. We shape a matching pocket into the jaw face, send you a preview to approve, then print. The $29 design fee is charged once per order, so extra pairs of the same design cost less.
How long does it take and how much is shipping?
Plain jaws usually ship in 3 to 5 business days. Pocket jaws ship after you approve the preview. Shipping is free within the United States.
