Push in dust plugs for empty OSFP and QSFP family switch and NIC ports. OSFP is the 800G form factor on current AI fabric switches, and the QSFP version fits QSFP+, QSFP28, QSFP56 and QSFP-DD cages, which share one backward compatible opening. An empty cage collects dust that ends up on optical interfaces, and the OEM plugs that shipped with the hardware get lost by the handful during cabling work. Printed to order in the USA by DC Additive Pros, in any quantity, so a missing plug never means an open port.

What you get

  • Twenty plugs per pack, one form factor per pack
  • Hollow shell enters the cage 16 mm, the connector sits far deeper and is never touched
  • Four crush ribs hold the plug firmly against the cage walls, push in and pull out by hand
  • Face flange overlaps the bezel opening 1.5 mm all around for a clean dust seal line
  • Pull tab with a 4 mm lanyard hole on every plug
  • Solid ABS, printed to order in the United States

Fitment, built from published dimensions

Manufactured to the published OSFP MSA and QSFP-DD envelope dimensions: 22.58 x 13.0 mm for OSFP and 18.35 x 8.5 mm for the QSFP family, verified across independent industry sources before the first unit was cut. The QSFP plug fits QSFP+, QSFP28, QSFP56 and QSFP-DD cages. SFP, SFP+ and SFP28 plugs are available as a made to order run, ask us.

Frequently asked questions

What covers an empty OSFP port on a switch?
A push in OSFP dust plug. This plug enters the cage 16 mm, holds on four crush ribs, and its flange covers the bezel opening so dust stays off the cage interior and the connector.

Do QSFP28 dust plugs fit QSFP-DD ports?
Yes. QSFP+, QSFP28, QSFP56 and QSFP-DD share one backward compatible cage opening of 18.35 x 8.5 mm, so one plug fits the whole family.

Are OSFP and QSFP-DD ports the same size?
No. OSFP is 22.58 mm wide by 13.0 mm high and QSFP-DD is 18.35 by 8.5 mm. They are not interchangeable, which is why we sell a plug for each.

Can a dust plug damage the port connector or EMI fingers?
No. The plug reaches 16 mm into a cage that is 89 mm or deeper, so it cannot touch the electrical connector, and the smooth ABS shell bears on the cage walls the same way a module housing does.

How many dust plugs do I need for a switch?
One per unused port. A 64 port fabric switch that is half populated needs 32. We print to order, so 20 packs, 100 packs and full deployment quantities are all available.

Do you make dust plugs for SFP and SFP28 ports?
Yes, as a made to order run at the same pack pricing. Tell us the form factor and quantity.
